Yiwei joined Dx Assays as a Scientist in 2010. He has led a project involving trouble shooting in an in vitro diagnostic instrument development. He is currently leading a verification project for automated diagnostic sample preparation and pathogen detection assays for the European market.
As the process owner of staff training, Yiwei helps other PIs to identify the training needs for new staff, ensure the training effectiveness, and overview the proper maintenance of training records according to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 criteria. As the AVA license owner, he assists in renewing the license, conducting the audit, and applying for pathogen importation permit.
He completed his undergraduate studies and received a Medical Doctor degree from Medical Center, Fu Dan University, Shanghai, China in 2002. After that he obtained his PhD at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2007. His research focused on the apoptotic effect of HBV X protein in healthy liver.
Yiwei commenced his career in Singapore General Hospital as a scientist working on Parkinson’s disease in 2007. After that he spent 3 years in National Cancer Centre Singapore as a research fellow, achieving the findings of interaction between HBV X protein and specific oncogenic transcriptional factors. He also studied the diagnostic biomarkers for early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma using microarray and proteomics tools.
In his leisure time, he enjoys basketball and tennis.
